Although summer is months away, we can’t help but prepare ourselves from these annoying pests that come with the warm season. Fortunately, you can still enjoy your summer without the pesky noise from flies hovering around you by calling the best fly control services near you. However, with the two fly control techniques; fly control technique (stage one) and fly elimination technique (stage two) you can eliminate flies from your home and environment.
Fly Control Techniques
Stage one is about the method that is used to control the growth of flies in your area. It involves cleaning the breeding source instead of destroying the breeding sources. The stage one techniques help to stop further growth by wiping off suitable breeding places for flies.
After getting rid of the breeding places, the next step is to deal with the adult flies before they find other suitable places to breed. The first thing to do is to identify the species of the fly that have flooded your home or business sites.
The next step is to clean the breeding sites, wash flyspecks off the grounds or floor, and walls with borax and water mixture. The mixture removes the trace that the flies leave to attract other flies to the spots.
Remove everything that may attract flies to the area, such as dead birds, animals, or even garbage cans. Ensure to empty the garbage cans as often as you can to stop flies from entering your home.
It is important to note that the lifespan of an adult fly is one to three months; you need to wait for 1- 3 months using the above steps to prevent new generations of flies from reproducing in your environment.
Fly Elimination Techniques
There are different ways to exterminate adult flies in your home; however, we highlighted two, but effective ways to get rid of flies from your home.
Vodka Based Fly Repellents
For some reasons, flies cannot stand the smell of vodka, even though some of us cannot seem to have enough of the drink. Nonetheless, to make vodka based fly repellents, you will need the following items:
- One cup vodka
- Two tablespoons of aloe vera juice
- One tablespoon of lemon eucalyptus oil
- Half tablespoon of the essential oil blend
Mix the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl, and pour the mixture in a spray bottle. You can spray it on the infested area or on your skin to repel flies from hovering near you. However, if you not comfortable with the content on your skin, you can avoid this method.
Lemongrass oil is a strong insect repellent that gives your room a refreshing scent while warding off other bugs from your home. It is quite easy to make; all you have to do is to mix twenty to twenty-five drops of lemongrass essential oil with a half cup of hot water into a bowl. Pour the solution in a spray bottle and then spray it along windows, doorways or any other fly infested areas.
Peppermint, lavender, citronella, eucalyptus or pennyroyal oil can replace the lemongrass oil, but they are not as effective as the lemongrass essential oil.
